HR mechanical seals in practice
EagleBurgmann HR mechanical seals are applied successfully in dredger pumps from big-name pump manufacturers and operators:
With around 250 locations and 90 serve centers, we are represented in the most important economic regions of the world. The advantages are clear: short paths to our customers, fast response times and a shared language.
EagleBurgmann HR mechanical seals are applied successfully in dredger pumps from big-name pump manufacturers and operators:
Since 1996, more than 1,000 of our mechanical seals have been brought to service in dredger pumps in the Netherlands alone.
Split hopper barges are used to dredge soil, sand or stone. Three vessels of a Dutch operator are equipped with eight G.I.W. dredger pumps in which eight EagleBurgmann HR2S1/160-G11-E12 seals are installed. They are, inter alia, used to dredge inland waterways.
Cutter suction dredgers are used during the construction and deepening of harbours and channels, etc. On these vessels, jet water pumps are in operation to cut into the hard seabed and loosen the sediment. For this, clean water is pumped under high pressure into the ground. EagleBurgmann supplied several of these jet water pumps with EagleBurgmann Cartex cartridge seals (shaft diameter up to 150 mm (5.90 ")); for bigger dimensions HR2S1 seals were used. In addition, EagleBurgmann HR2S1 seals are implemented in several G.I.W. dredger pumps, which transport the soil-water mixture through discharge pipelines for the transport to other locations.
The self propelled river hopper dredger "Nicole" of a Belgian operator uses two G.I.W. dredging pumps equipped with two EagleBurgmann HR2S1/160-G11-E12 seals and a G.I.W. jet water pump with an EagleBurgmann HR2S1/140-G11-E2 seal. The vessel is used for hydraulic engineering and sand trading.
An EagleBurgmann HR2S1/290-G11-E1 successfully seals the shaft of a type 7570 MD Damen dredger pump on the “PIRAT X”, one of the largest dredgers in operation owned by dredging contractor Johann Bunte Bauunternehmung from Papenburg/Germany. Discharge pressure is 16 bar (232 PSI). The seal performs well and shows an MTBR of over one year.
