RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

The facilities of R&D in Japan

The Japanese center for research and development is located in Saitama, to the north of Tokyo. Tests are performed safely and effectively under different conditions and for various applications on 19 test facilities equipped with the latest safety equipment.

Among other things, we test new possibilities for choosing material and work on developing new, structured sliding faces (surface micro-texturing technology) in Saitama.

Test rigs

We test newly developed and improved products on our dynamic test rigs and carry out tests on friction and wear. We also have a test rigs that tests seals for water pumps as well as several facilities for testing organic and inorganic media. Our plant in Niigata also carries out customer acceptance tests and performs function tests of seals.

Laboratories and measuring rooms

Our laboratories and measuring rooms in Saitama are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. Next to electromagnetic tools (EMPA, x-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscope, etc.), we also use optical analysis tools (FTIR spectrometer, optical microscopes, etc.) to examine the tested products. Special devices e.g. to examine hardness, viscosity or surface structure enable a qualified analysis and the possibility to improve the examined products.
