No in­dus­trial pro­duc­tion facility can run without seals. The number of sealing points and media to be con­trolled is cor­re­spond­ingly large. So there are many system com­po­nents that need to be sealed. Pumps, ag­i­ta­tors and com­pres­sors, in­stru­ments, fittings and flanges, not to mention pipes and ducts carrying gases and liquids. The re­li­a­bil­ity of the entire plant depends on many in­di­vid­ual parts. The seals, as key com­po­nents, play an im­por­tant role. They protect systems and com­po­nents against external in­flu­ences and con­t­a­m­i­na­tion, and help prevent emis­sions. Sealing tech­nol­ogy also often offers con­sid­er­able po­ten­tial for reducing costs - through process-com­pat­i­ble design, or cus­tomized so­lu­tions, for example.
